Visiting Boerne, Texas? Here Are 5 Fun Places to Visit!

The hill country town of Boerne, Texas is both a natural and beautiful place. There are so many fun things to do while visiting this town for an afternoon or even a vacation! Boerne is a mere 25 minute drive from San Antonio, Texas and offers many great times to its residents. This town is huge on German influence as many of the original settlers travelled north from San Antonio in the 1840s to call this ole town home.

#1: Do you enjoy nature? Visit the Cibolo Nature Center

The Cibolo Nature Center is located near the city park and offers both a soothing and educational trail preservation. Originally just an open area of land, Cibolo Nature Center is a restored area that maintains all four of the ecosystems including riparian forest, live oak savannah, tall-grass prairie and spring-fed marsh. The trails are well maintained with spacious walkways and signs throughout to educate the public. Also included are workshops and outdoor classrooms available to the public. Care to spend an afternoon? Take your lunch with you as there are courtyards and pavilions located throughout where you may admire nature, camera in hand, as you also enjoy a small picnic.

#2: Are you scared of A local haunted library?!

Started on a shoe-string budget in hopes to educate local farmers, the Boerne Public Library was created in 1952. Eventually, it expanded and relocated to another building that was originally a general store. Many stated they could hear unexplained voices and see lights that will flicker on and off. In 2008, the television series, Everyday Paranormal, aka Ghost Labs visited the library with gear in hand. They managed to record both voices and music. Their cameras also caught images of a woman's figure near the bookshelves. Do you dare visit a place that carries more than just books?

#3: Farmers love food and sell it even better!
A Historic German Town with a Feel of Friends, Family and Fun! Every Saturday, local farmers get together and sell a wide variety of seasonal fruits. Unlike other farmer markets, you will get A LOT more than just your average tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and vegetables. In Boerne, farmers also sale baked breads, soaps, jellies, pickles, nuts, fresh eggs, herbs and even flowers!

#4: Get a taste of the old wild west - alive!

Enchanted Springs Ranch looks like a movie made from an old western film. Actually it is! Seen also on Oprah and rated as one of the "Wacky Family Attractions" this ranch has real cowboys, stage-coaches, over 40 old-western buildings and exotic animals! Did I mention that lodging is also available? You can play for the day or stay for the night! Located on over 86 acres it serves as a full service working ranch and is dedicated as a preservation to keep "the Old West Alive". You will see real pistol-packing shows, wagon rides, pony rides, cowboy talks and a wild animal park. As an added bonus you can request to have your visitor arrested!

# 5: A Place Downunder Texas - Cascade Caverns

Beneath the Texas hill country soil is a fascinating gem. The Cascade Caverns has over 90 foot waterfalls and unusual animals including Mexican Brown Bats, Salamanders, and Leopard Frogs. You can see fossils and other artifacts that are viewable to the public. After the flood of 2002, some access is not available as for public safety, but much of the grounds are still enjoyable. A local tour guide will educate you along your tour and lead your over 150 feet below the surface. Cascade Caverns is fun for all ages and is not too lengthy where all ages can enjoy this adventure!
