Preparing For Your Wedding Day - From Wedding Shoes to the Bridal Emergency Kit

Preparing For Your Wedding Day - From Wedding Shoes to the Bridal Emergency Kit

The wedding shoes are the only support she has.  If the shoes start to hurt, the bride will feel very uncomfortable all day. Therefore, the bride needs to make sure she has something comfortable to wear all day. Whether it is a beautiful pair to wear down the aisle and then a pair of more casual shoes are selected beforehand.

Second, the bride should prepare a bridal emergency kit case. That case should contain all of the little things she might need on the big day.  These include the following:  extra lipstick so she can reapply throughout the night, a compact to retouch, pins in case her hair starts to fall, water in case she becomes too dehydrated, a needle and thread for any last minute touch ups on the dress, and a little mirror for any last minute touch ups.  The emergency kit can oftentimes be prepared by her bridesmaids, but in case they don't prepare anything, the bride should put all of these things together in preparation for the big day.

Finally, the other major thing the bride should prepare is the wedding day schedule and contact details for the vendors and the bridal party.  The minute by minute schedule for that big day is imperative to making sure that everything happens on time.  The contact details are so important in case someone is searching for a vendor. The bride should assign a person for each vendor and assign someone to make sure that the schedule is running smoothly.  After making the entire schedule, one important thing is for the bride to review that schedule with the main people responsible for the event and the main people helping the bride ensure that the day runs smoothly - the bridesmaids, the wedding coordinators, and the vendors.  One tip for the bride is to print out multiple copies of the schedule and tape them everywhere - in the car, in the bathroom, in people's rooms so that everyone can glance at it throughout the day and help the bride with the timing and the coordination.

The wedding day can be a very stressful day or a wonderful day, as long as the bride is prepared. Making sure she has the above items will definitely help ensure a wonderful and smooth day.

Wedding Day Emergency Kit Checklist

Wedding Day Emergency Kit Checklist

Every bride hopes that her wedding day will go perfectly, and for the most part everything will. However, there's nothing like a little extra preparation to ease stress and make sure minor glitches don't turn into major disasters.

Here's a little check list of handy items. Put together as a kit, it makes a great gift. The list also works well for proms and other special occasions.

Wedding Shoes

Needle & thread: Fixes last minute wardrobe disasters like loose buttons, sequins, etc.

Clear nail polish: Stops runs in panty hose.

Safety pins: They can be used for bra strap failures, missing buttons, etc.

Bobby pins: Anyone in the wedding party might need a few extras.

Straight pins: Just in case you are short on pins for corsages & boutonnières.

Clear deodorant: Ahem, some people just need more than others. Never hurts to have a back up-especially on a hot day and with strapless gowns.

Hair spray: Needs no explanation. There may be several hours between the hair saloon and ceremony.

Concealer: Break-outs could pop up on face, chest, or back. It also hides dark circles from lack of sleep.

Panty Hose: nail polish can't fix em all!

Band Aids: good for cuts, scrapes and especially BLISTERS from the sophisticated shoes.

shoe pads (anti-slip for the bottom of shoes): It's better to have a few extras than a wedding party wipe-out on an unfamiliar floor.

Stain remover pen: Great item especially if kids are in the wedding.

Emory board/nail file: Just in case someone chips or breaks a nail.

Tweezers: get last minute eyebrows and-God forbid, chin hairs!

Contact solution: 75% chance someone will need it before the day is over.

Contact case: Just in case eye-rubbing, tears etc. causes a contact emergency. The bride & groom should have extra contacts.

Pepto-Bismol: You never know who might need it between traveling, eating out, nerves and bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Tissues: Tears, allergies, colds, etc.

Bezoyl peroxide cream: Someone in the wedding party is bound to need it. Some of the good stuff can fix a breakout within a couple of hours.

Tape: Good tape can fix a dragging hem, a pew bow, or any number of other minor crises.

Stereo of some sort & a few CDs: Just in case a musician is caught in traffic or a no-show.

Extra cameras & video camera: It's always good to have a back up on the most important day of your life.

Wedding Day Must Haves - Emergency Kit

Wedding Day Must Haves - Emergency Kit

We all want to think good thoughts when it has to do with our wedding day, right? We all want to believe that nothing is going to happen out of the ordinary, so why plan for such an event? Wrong! Something always happens at weddings; little things, huge things, something! So, you always want to be prepared for whatever you might need at any given moment. And please understand, the bride does not carry around all of these things all day long just in case something happens. Gather these items and put them in a large purse or carry on bag and assign a mom, grandmom, friend, bridesmaid, someone to see that it gets put away in the bride's dressing or changing room. And they are responsible for it, not you, the bride. So, now that I have you all worried, what are these crucial items that you will need?

Think of all the things you cannot do without and add those to your personal miscellaneous list. Every wedding I've ever been in (including my own) and every single one that I've planned or consulted on all had emergency kits and the bride and wedding party used many of the items in it. You'll have peace of mind once you put this together. At least that will be one area under your control. Enjoy!
